Northern Ireland Holidays Visitor Guide | Website design & build, ongoing marketing support, SEO content writing

About Northern Ireland Holidays Visitor Guide

To be up front about this ‘client’, this in fact a personal project that I built when I relocated to Northern Ireland from Hong Kong with my Ulster-born husband. While discovering the region for myself, it made sense to build a website to share that information with others who were thinking about visiting Northern Ireland.

Project scope

The site is monetised through commission-earning affiliate links to Booking.com and other providers. For this to work, the site must attract and retain a large number of relevant site visitors who stay on the site to explore the content.

  • Website updates

  • Downloadable ‘lead magnets’

Project solution

The website was built using the Jannah theme on Wordpress.

Organic traffic, the lifeblood of the site, is brought onto the site though relevant and valuable content that is optimised for search engines. The user experience is enhanced with internal link strategies taking visitors on a journey through the site.

An interactive map helps visitors nagivate the site and access relevant content.

An email sign up banner and pop-up encourage reader subscriptions for the email newsletter that brings visitors back to the site.

Downloadable PDFs give value to visitors.

Cookies are used for remarketing, that is, advertising to people who have already visited the site to promote related content.

To further optimise the site for search engines, an ongoing programme is carried out to maintain site speed, remove broken links, and other SEO strategies.

Keyword optimised content draws in visitors through search and social media
